another podcast

hi, grue and i have been doing a podcast. we have four episodes already!

what is it about?? who knows! we are talking about a different topic every time.

in the first episode, he and i talk about the forum (last time we did this i was really averse to mentioning it but we talk a bit about the process. you may actually be interested in what i say here). we then talk about linkin park (god help us) and the lottery

in the second episode we talk about celebrity death stuff. in the third, we talk a lot about batman. daniel knows nothing about batman so it was really cool. in the last one, i have no idea what is going on but i like it

soon, there will be more and there will be more structure. the episodes are supposedly 30 minutes however we went twice as long on the batman one because i am insufferable. the quality has been improved since last time in general, however it will continue to do so as things progress soon

here is a list of new stuff from last time:
-two people. this will be expanded or changed maybe later? who knows
-the website is actually a nice presentation and everything is right there for you
-there is kind of a "bio" as well as a link from the front page to the podcast section. i drew a little caricature of us, arent we cute
-a little more "production" value, episodes are shorter. the goal here was to make editing less of a burden on me which was why i stopped in the first place

here is a list of stuff that im aware needs to be fixed:
-my mic quality changes from the first two to the second two. its not reprehensible but thats a little weird
-we have a hello but not really a goodbye. this will change
-perhaps needs soooome structure- episodes 1 and 4 are intentionally all-over whereas we are pretty thorough in 2 and 3

please, do listen and give me your thoughts. listen for as long as youd listen but then listen a little longer. if you have any suggestions on the presentation in general or have an idea, share it.

this counts for the site in general. my intention is to make it veeeery eclectic and veeeeery stripped down but it shouldnt be outright stupid. intentionally, consciously stupid only

how come there isn't a link to the forums on the main hatrack hotel site

thanks, its a harmonica

because i want to add a bulk of things to the site at once, including the forum. and we are still looking for content to go with it

if in some twisted way i was forced to pick his alignment now that ive reviewed the relevant sources, it would be have to be lawful good. but theres no good answer, not even that one

you can look at him in two ways (and of course as i said many times in the episode, interpretations are all over the place): either he is a force for good, or he is a force against evil. if you see him as a force for good, then he is obviously good. if you see him as a force against evil, then he may be neutral in that way. i think that his actions stem from a desire to make the world better and so therefore he is "good" more so than neutral and certainly not evil

the fact that he is a vigilante kind of flies in the face of calling him lawful, but the fact that he sticks to his own principles always seems to mean that he is indeed lawful. what makes the law, then, is what is important here... in the classical sense of a knight or a paladin being lawful to their principles, he is undoubtedly lawful good. but the modern d&d definition of lawful talks about obedience to authority which sets off a big comical siren in my head

ultimately, i think in batman's mind there is a Paradise (not necessarily a religious one) where all humans belong because humans are positive and good. however, if you commit crime and prove yourself unworthy of belonging in that paradise he will stop you and hope things turn around for you. in his mind, the rules of belonging to this paradise do not match up with the rules of society's laws and as such he doesnt care for the human laws and instead aspires to the laws set out in his own Paradise. i think that someone who was better than bruce at fitting into this paradise would make him obedient to his or her authority, and as such he would be lawful to them. the only person that may fit that bill is his father, thomas wayne. of course the laws in the first place are all in his head

really what im saying is that, he is lawful but with high standards. so, first i say go fuck your chart and second i say lawful good

the anachronistic episode was pretty fun to listen to - and the future anachronisms were great

like i said you have a good banter with daniel and you really don't NEED a guest but I suppose if you run out of questions you could have guests suggest questions/topics they know about and if you think that would make a good show, then they can join since they'd definitely have something to talk about - it wouldn't be a guest for the sake of having a 3rd.
