didn't some old forum member just start up a webcomic? maybe you could get him involved, that might be a good diea.
I was thinking we could do something similar to the avclub. tempest is clearly the master of video games, extremely knowledgeable. grue already has a tumblr dedicated to reviewing/talking about music (that was grue right?) I know I consume a shit ton of media, pretty much all of it music, but movies too if something stands out. diehard also listens to a lot of music I believe. legrand could review all sorts of animated goodness, if he had time. I would say risbolla for anime but he seems pretty dedicated to inserting at least 6 commas into every sentence. I guess diehard could contribute to that as well. I know all of us are capable of writing comprehensible reviews. maybe someone else here is knowledgeable about some other kind of media? books maybe? graphic novels? anyway I am just saying things.
something like a series of reviews would be interesting (i think you might be thinking of the_solipsist, who had a whole website that was music reviews?). i have been thinking about a book/movie/game club in general that we all do every week/few weeks and that could be integrated. it's interesting. i like the idea. im gonna think about that some. i would like for there to be a kind of twist on it, though

I was thinking the same thing. I wouldn't want it to just be a clone of avclub. it'd be different if we were all really weird eccentric personalities, we could get away with it maybe in that case, but we are all mostly normal dudes. (rip jonc)

also I see no reason why we couldn't have a webcomic AND some sort of weekly review segment. but like I said, I think a webcomic takes some inspiration and more importantly a shit load of grinding out ideas/drawings and dedication, which I'm not sure anyone here has. I mean no offense it's just that every tournament we've had in the past took three times as long as it should have, maybe more.

Edit: I mean it was devolving into shitty tumblr-like reblogs and then I was like what's the point. the biggest fun was to actually write essays about random shit over some obscure metal album.

i say we go into a major webcomic forum
we infiltrate the forum as friendlies and we build pressure to give ben modship
then we slowly but steadily start spreading false rumors about the site not having comics, make it a meme
when the lead comic writers start to get fed up, instigate derision and force them to fire the weakest link (every group has a Matt)
meanwhile, chaos is a ladder. we ride the confusion and get Ben to become admin of the forum
then we shut down the forum and we migrate every user back to this one
it should take us ten to twelve years

Forum infiltration is actually a rather good idea. Like risbolla said, only forum people post on forums, and since virtual kidnapping isn't really a thing yet the next best thing is to convince them that this could be a new home for them. Which brings us back to having interesting content, otherwise we probably won't keep anyone.

you have to remember that Something Awful and Facepunch still has a big following
if we make any animated things like k-man said, we could put shameless plugin on the videos as well as post them as "a person who just came across this HILARIOUS video!!!"
