Currently been listening to two different bands from two different decades

Styx - Grand Illusion

I decided to check this out since I have heard Come Sail Away many times. Overall I pretty nice album. It has the comfort of the prog side of rock as well as the fast pace of the older bands. This album feels like a mixture between Rush and Deep Purple, making the epic blend into one grand album with the peak with Come Sail Away, keeping your interest along the way, with the slow descend with The Grand Finale which ironically fits the name of the end track. While not as good as other more well known old rock bands, still deserves a listen to anyone who enjoys the genre.

Highlights include: Fooling Yourself, Superstar, Come Sail Away, The Grand Illusion

Grade: 7.5/10

Oingo Boingo - Dead Man's Party

Dead Man's Party is an interesting album. I had previously listened to them back in high school, remembering the single from the album "weird science". My mother had a copy of it on CD so I checked them out again. It's a mixture between ska and new wave, making an interesting combination that blends and transitions better than any other band I have heard in awhile. Anyone a fan of either genre would enjoy it, with parts of the album favoring one or the other style.

Highlights of the album include: Just Another Day, Dead Man's Party, No One Lives Forever

Grade: 8/10

styx is a pretty fun band. for some reason I was big on them when I was like 14, them and aerosmith. still love aerosmith.

can I ask what you guys think of that disturbed cover of the sound of silence? I mean...I think it's really embarrassing and hard to listen to, but I've found that most people thinks it's just amazing. am I alone?

"disturbed cover"

they made me hate genesis

I'd listen to that 25 times before I'd sit through this shitty cover to be honest
