do you really think that in the current political climate it is fair for people actually threatened by nazis to assume good faith from people who are not when those people are not explicitly condemning them? does it REALLY go without saying

real talk I don't honestly believe that the shrieking canary-in-chief is actually a nazi sympathizer. what I do think though is that his staff filled his small bird brain with so much antileft rhetoric that he had - he just HAD to do the whole "both sides" point. it legitimately looks like he's struggling now. like, he WANTED to say that maybe those on the march weren't ALL bad - which may be technically true but hardly the stance to take on this issue you stupid sentient peach! who seriously gives a fuck about those in the protest that were "good people"?? trump... please, of all the stupid things.
and you just KNOW shit hit the fan on closed doors. bannon getting sacked, all the big kahunas stepping out. trump coming on twitter now condemning the far-right (seriously dude) and that's AFTER he sent a tweet about counterprotesters being violent. like, he's just this thickheaded stubborn moron who HAS to edge in his word otherwise he won't feel good or something

i had a trump-y coworker whose platform was mainly "liberals are the worst! i hate obama!" and trump is the same. youre right that he doesn't know, feel, or care what the protesters are doing- in his mind, he's just irritated and antagonized by the idea of danged liberals rioting. saying "theres a problem on both sides" is just saying "ok whatever about those guys, theres problems on the OTHER side amirite"
there is no political positive agenda. he doesnt believe anything in the positive, just in the negative. its ok if hes bad because in his mind obama was worst. he has no lower limit

you've refused to speak to me in any type of good faith for five years. i have no way of knowing if you have changed for the worse and to what extent. either way, your claim that you were trying to be unbiased is concerning on its own, this isn't something you can just Present, its nazis murdering people and not taking a clear stance is... not an admirable thing.

Its the equivalent of tearing down the Lenin statues in post-communist countries. Its not a memorial, its something people don't want to see.
If it was a monument to the dead, I'd be angry. Death has no bias, so there should be no reasons to remove something like that.

A memorial to the dead, not a memorial for what they fought for. Both sides were human, as well as a symbol of our past, and the horrors of reality. Its a way to honor the dead and learn from our mistakes. War is hell.

It doesn't matter the intention, he led men to their death. It would be like having a statue of Napoleon or Rommel, it doesn't forgive them for the deaths of their people. I am the same with the union generals like Grant or Sherman.
Grants strategy was to throw immigrants at the southern armies until the south ran out of bodies, while Sherman's was to raze cities to the ground in his March to the Sea. I would be absolutely disgusted if I saw statues of these men.
