a more serious reply here is that france has
a) an iffy, probably the iffiest, relationship with certain muslim ex-collonies
b) a very outward and proud defense of freedom of speech for anti-religious people (like charlie hebdo but also see the french press generally)
c) a very conflictuous migrant problem that's been dating back for dozens of years across different migrant populations and generations
d) all of it boiling down specifically with the current muslim migrant population
e) anti-islam imagery laws, the rise of the rigth-wing and the rise of organized violent islam
f) expanding on b) to add that france is traditionally one of the bastions of european culture
this is all assuming the truck thing was a terrorist attack and an islamist one at that, of course, but the above stands regardless
