Hand sanitizer doesn't replace soap and water if your hands are dirty, but along with regular hand washing, it definitely helps fight many important germs. It works by killing cells—not human cells. It kills microbial cells. It's based on the use of 70 per cent isopropanol alcohol, which is rubbing alcohol.

Wash your hands then sanitize them. That's how its been in the food industry for the past decade. I got fired from a job because the owners never washed their hands after coughing and sneezing into them. I told them that I eat there too and its horribly disgusting.
