the more bitcoin there is, the harder it is to mine

who determines that? isnt bitcoin mined by having computers decrypt shit or something? what is making the decrypting harder

in a super simplistic underexaggeration of how bitcoin works: in order to keep the market for it somewhat stable, the more people mining for bitcoin and the more that exists, the more CPU power it takes to get an equivalent amount, or more specifically the more 'work' needs to be done to generate the same amount of bitcoin. where you could maybe mine up a full bitcoin in a week or two when it first came into the world, without some sort of huge server set up with LOTS of CPUs all mining bitcoin you're basically making no bitcoin every day and it would take you years to mine any negligible amount of money from it.

some people use like, school server stacks and work servers to mine bitcoin and they still are probably making fuck all.
