i have an issue with the grammar of this gun buying thing

if you go into a store and steal something but nobody notices and you dont get caught, you havent obtained it "legally"

if the spirit (or even letter) of a law says that certain things should disallow you from owning a gun but you somehow walk away with one anyway (because of ineptitude usually), just because someone isn't coming after you for an arrest doesnt mean youve done so legally

why should we keep signing bills that make these laws if nobody listens to them in the first place
