If she doesn't like the overworld/finds it boring I wouldn't exactly say to stick it out, it doesn't change a whole lot. I liked it from the get go, but if I didn't I don't think there would be many things thrown at me that would change my mind.
That being said I love the shrines as a substitute for an enormous amount of dungeons.

i actually miss the dungeons so much i bought ages on my 3ds and play that while my wife plays the new one. she likes it a lot so that's good

i get the appeal of the shrines and i like them in their own right but i would have at least liked for the four main things to be like... a little more i guess? idk it just doesn't feel much like a zelda game to me and the Patented Zelda Gimmick being an iphone is silly. it's cute u can pose for selfies tho i love that

I can understand the lack of dungeons feeling. the daunting feeling of challenge that comes from entering a dungeon the first time, switching into that mindset is definitely minimized in the shrines and great beasts

either way i just picked up andromeda so ill play zelda again in a few weeks and see if my opinion changes at all. i don't think it's a bad game by any means it's just Not 4 Me

breath of the wild is amazing imo but also definitely not a traditional zelda game, it feels like more of a departure than even zelda 2
