bitcoin ain't free money it's almost impossible to mine bitcoin anymore, it would take you years to get any substantial amount

Bitcoin is mined by computers doing the work that makes bitcoin transactions happen (but yeah decrypting shit). The computers that contribute to this are rewarded with fresh new bitcoins that didn't exist before. The decrypting shit is kinda like guessing a password, but it gets more complicated as the chain (the list of all transactions made) becomes longer, so the same computer needs more and more time to do the same work. Also, every 4 years the miner reward gets halved. This is just how they programmed bitcoin, other similar currencies don't do this.

Also there is a maximum amount of bitcoin that can exist ever (21 million I think). So we can't just make new bitcoin forever. When we reach the 21 million, the miners will start getting paid in a percentage of the transactions instead of bitcoin made from thin air.

or i dunno some nerd money shit
