im very interested in the logistics of the current election and very uninterested in the individual politics. the general movement of the republican party and the banality and "safety" of the democrats is interesting. i like to scoff at the two party system, but the fact remains that as long as those parties are the biggest they will remain the most active and defining in our time

that being said, looking at someone like mr. sanders makes it more interesting considering how very close he is (not that i believe even for a minute that he will win the nomination) despite his outspoken and obvious proclivities (he's an old jewish socialist). again, i dont care about the reality, history, or practicality of his actual political policies and only find him interesting as a character in this arena

it is interesting that trump, a character himself, succeeds where sanders does not. why is this? is it because of trump's opportunism in the face of a dying party, or is it something dark in the hearts of his supporters? how do you define the trump voterbase- are they the once-silent majority or are they a vocal minority that happens to be more vocal than the others?

do you know any unironic trump supporters? what kind of people are they in the context of the election process? have they voted before? have they felt cheated before? would they have continued in the process if trump were to have left in the beginning?

I am a person who understands politics and economy (not 100% knowledgeable on both) so when I see both chucklefucks on either side giving each other reacharounds while pissing in each others faces, I see no progress. I voted for Ron Paul last election. Yes I did and would. I was hoping for Rand or Bernie but the hope is lost. I want trump for some of his promises while mostly wanting him because Hilary is the devil and the Republicans must die.

do you consider a vote for the pure libertarian party a wasted vote?

if trump or bernie got voted in, it shows that 3rd parties CAN get the support (yes I know they're registered under demo and repubs but they're not either) so in the future, I am hoping that some sort of isolationist candidate is one I will always vote for

Yes, he will have a squad of officers escort him to the border with their walkie talkies trained on him

sad that bernie has people fooled into thinking he's a socialist. he's not. he doesn't have a single socialist viewpoint. he's running for an office socialists want abolished. very insidiously evil to trick young disillusioned and uneducated kids into thinking he's something he's not when he's just as much of a genocidal capitalist war criminal fascist as hillary or trump. u can't win w any of them

to be honest I'm way more invested in what's happening in Brazil

Edit: this was kind of derailing so I'll clarify

the US elections are surely important because the figurehead in america tends to operate under a certain political aesthetic - Obama, Bush and Clinton (speaking of presidencies I was conscious about) each stand more for a way of running things than an actual politicla agenda, the way things seem to work over there

it's fine and interesting and for me the aesthetic of an old jewish social-democrat affects very relevantly american foreign relations in contrast to an angry golden cradle idiot with a bad hairstyle. "Bush" america was very different from "Obama" america and that is what is important to me here

but in terms of structural effects, the current impeachment of Brazil's president and the massive curruption breakdown undergoing there - with dangerous implications on all accounts, from military dictatorship supporters to cartel-financed moguls and a rising strife nationwide - could have brutal implications for the world economy (Brazil is stupid rich and influential)

and siding next to that, american political aesthetics kinda pale in relevance to me

I definitely don't think the outcome of the american elections is as potentially damaging as the outcome of the brazillian impeachment process, no

i was hearing bits of what is going on in Brazil, that they're considering the vice president who apparently also has a shifty past and people are concerned that if he gets power he'll bury it all fully

he's in power now. the chances of latin america's economic collapse are pretty damn high, and that would mean worldwide recession

or so they say
