okay i watched half of it, here are the thoughts that occur in my head:
-i watched because i appreciate your post and i want there to be more discussion, otherwise i would not have really cared
-i dont know anything about rap or modern music, nor do i know about the standard of music videos
-the video itself is cool, this might be damning with faint praise but if you said this was just a video made by some "new" "hip" "kid" and not yourself i would not have questioned it. does this mean its boring/standard/the same? or does it mean you did a good job? who knows
-i have zero to say about the quality of the music
-the guy keeps flicking his hands and stuff at the camera. is this normal? is this a cultural thing i dont "get"? as the image of his own artistic expression he seems bland and standard, which i do think is a negative thing in his case. im starting to get away from your contribution, i know
the most interesting thing in it was your editing. i hope that is positive

About: I sleep
you need to tell your friend that waving your hands around in different gestures is not dancing and incredibly distracting
the audio mixing is pretty bad, not going to lie, but visually it's nice if weren't for the obnoxious movements of the singer
you definitely got the formula down on "how to make a top 40 music video" now you just gotta find a musician that has top 40 material

About: Mariah Carey
i thought it was quite good - nothing stood out as particularly amateurish which is a big plus when you're dealing with emerging artists
the religious imagery and urban decay seemed a bit hammy but there's definitely an audience for hamminess if mainstream music has taught me anything *sips homebrew*

i appreciate the comments on the visuals
if anything im promoting the video more so than the artist X.X
he's good though, one of the best freestylers in Philly, it's actually really impressive.
his lyrics are always so true about his life, he doesn't embellish or lie to fit any kid of hip hop stereotype, he rhymes about smoking loosie cigarettes and playing the drums like his fav Ringo Starr
