hey dumbasses sorry i've been busy playing VIDEO GAMES
i bought a ton of games in the steam summer sale, i haven't played a lot of them but i can formulate some opinions
first off though, i've also been playing older games: i'm trying to finish up Talos Principle, since I finished The Witness not long ago and I think they run in the same vein. also, Matterialize and I are playing Star Wars: The Old Republic again because the story makes that game so fun.
AAAAAAAANYWAY, i bought Sniper Elite 3 and I've been playing that with Matt some too, it's really stupid fun. like, if you are very meticulous about your stealthy shooters it's fucking perfect, the first mission took us like an hour and a half because were being so slow and methodical about it. the single player is just as fun, though you can't laugh with your chums about how you just disintegrated a nazi's ballsack into dust with a single bullet. there are no silencers on your snipper rifles, so you have to use enviromental noises to cover your shots.
i bought Doom and that shit is TIGHT, i've been playing very slowly through the campaign. also, a lot of people bitched about it but i don't have much of an issue with the multiplayer aside from the fact that the rocket launcher is so good it's pretty much required on every loadout. obviously it's not like the old school quake/UT multiplayer because it has loadouts instead of on-map weapons but I really like the speed and verticality, you have a double jump and the maps have multiple different elevation levels all over the place. it's hectic and i enjoy it.
I bought Disgaea for PC and idk if there's really anything for me to say about it; it's the original disgaea but on pc. the port seems to be pretty much flawless so far; there's no features that are really any different from the console version, but it's not a shitshow like most pc ports. if you like grinding in RPGs, disgaea is the shit for you.
I purchased Big Pharma and played it a little bit, it's a fun little distraction game. It's basically a puzzle game and a simulation game mixed into one, with a sprinkling of those good old idle games like cookie clicker and shit. you have to set up production lines for certain pharmaceuticals to make money and unlock better ones, etc etc
i played a very small amount of Pillars of Eternity, and it's a great isometric party-based RPG that runs off D&D-style rules, like Baldur's Gate. if you liked Baldur's Gate it's a great fucking buy, especially since it's still on sale for an extra day, and if you never played baldur's gate fuck off go play baldur's gate it's amazing. (actually don't it aged poorly and it uses AD&D 2 rules which means you have to figure out what THAC0 means on your own fucker!!!)
Gods Will Be Watching is a fucking ballache of a game that I might refund, not because it sucks but because I suck at it. it's basically a puzzle game, but it's hard to describe its intricacies in a few words. for example, in the first level you are playing as security guy in a terrorist attack on a building; you have to manage your leader's hacking progress on their terminals and keep security out of the hack, while also micro-managing hostages so they don't panic and run or try to overthrow you, and you also have to keep the cops from busting the door down and fucking you in the ass. it's incredibly difficult, and not really my cup of tea
I played a very small amount of Hyper Light Drifter and it is fucking awesome. it's a super confusing game right off the bat: there's no voices, no cutscene to explain anything, they just drop you directly into the game world and you have to figure literally everything out on your own, but it's a super stylized top-down hack and slash rpg kind of like the fuckin great grandbabby of transistor and zelda mixed together. i really like it.
I also bought Project Zomboid, SanctuaryRPG: Black Edition, Titan Souls, Endless Legend, Tropico 5, Agarest: Generations of War, Interstellaria, Hyperdimension Neptuna Re;Birth1, and Tales of Zestiria, but haven't really had time to play those fuckers yet.
