can I just reiterate the poetic justice of seeing Milo fall into the same trap he normally set for other people
like, the logic of what he is suffering right now is the same that he fed upon to get to where he is right now (distortion, mudslinging, mentions out of context)
the little that I saw of that livestream - granted, it was very little - he didn't say anything too serious. I mean, it was serious stuff, but he was talking about as a young gay man his experience sleeping with older dudes and how that's in his view common in the gay community or something
and by young he seemed to claim it went as far back as 14/15
and he said he didnt condone it but it did happen, and that's when some other beardo started ranting about lowering the age of consent or something i tuned out at that point
lmao
he should know that he needs a very controlled context to talk about these sensitive issues - yes, a "safe space", ironically - without having the dangers of being misinterpreted or coopted into something more sinister
he should know, because that's exactly what he does
marvellous
which in a sense is the same material that trump's double-edge-swordness is made of
the very same stuff that raises them to the top is what can at any moment bring it toppling down
that's the main difference between people like trump and people like clinton, and why you will always have many clintons and many few trumps, because clinton's base was solid. proven too weak vs the trump outburst, but otherwise solid, because it's based on the "unspoken rules" that zizek talks about / or the ranciere police, the healthy body politic, or whatever. the savoir faire of corridor politics and influencing. it tends to stability and stagnation, but it works
my prediction is that trump will either falter into a status quo handling of politics, hence losing his electoral ground, or keep on keeping on, at the brink of having it blow up in his face over a well-timed misunderstanding. interesting stuff.
