I've been investigated for fraud after a police officer didn't like me this one time that I was in an accident. Thankfully they had nothing on me, and I had a good affordable lawyer. I have friends who have been arrested under no charges at several protests even though the portuguese Constitution clearly states protesting as a fundamental right. This one time the police literally swept the streets of Lisbon, hitting the disabled and the elderly, arresting random people (which is a fascist technique) and presenting them a blank page to sign. I'm sure I'm on a list since I've confirmed my friends to be aswell. I know people who ran away for being anarchists and will hide their identity on account of police persecution.
Portugal was pillaged by the PTB under a major "austerity" move. I've seen people have their homes sold on a bargain by their debt-ridden banks only to be resold later on by a private contractor for way above its market price. I've seen massive plots of land being taken over by corporate interests with direct ties to the EU Bank and therefore, to the people who were responsible for the pillaging of my country. The right to land and housing is a pillar of our Constitution.
I've worked first-hand with prisoners and second-hand with refugees. Basic human rights that supercede our Constitution are being violated on a regular basis all across Europe. Education should technically be free in my country (Constitution) but it's unaffordable for many; same for healthcare and so on.
I could go on across the ocean and adress your own unlawful killings and arrests, but you get the gist of what I'm getting at.
This is all Law. I'm not out here talking about principles and how it should be in my perfect utopian society. I'm talking about the systematic bypass of any due process or any evidence-based principle across the board, by people with more power than they know what to do with.
I'm all for due process and innocent until proven guilty. 100%. But it miffs me that this shit only comes up when it just so happens to threaten the well-being of the middle class (men). Yes, there certainly are women out there trying to weaponize sexual harassment claims to target a guy that they don't like for whatever other reason. Like I said, those people are actively hurting victims, because every false claim raises doubt on all the real ones. Yes, this is bullshit. But to actively paint it as if this is the Big Problem right now, rather than the systemic miscarriage of whatever passes as "justice" this days, on so many fundamental levels, carried out by a wealthy elite who By The Way are profiting big time out of these big profile cases - because it's a mediatic goldmine, because there's a reshuffling of the game pieces on billion-dollar industries, because it's a great PR oportunity to clean your hands - well, it just seems to miss the point.
So, this is why I don't really care about the moral crusade.
I don't really have a lot of time to invest on this forum but this was brewing in my head and had to get it out. peace
